The former Governor of Abia State and now a Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator T. A. Orji, has continued to receive commendations from Abians especially Osisioma Ngwa indigenes for his sponsorship of the Osisioma Ngwa Youth Unity Cup tagged ‘Osisioma Cup’. The Deputy Chairman of Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, Engr. Godswill Ajiagba, is the latest person to laud the Senator for sponsoring the tournament.
The Deputy Chairman, who was the guest of honour in the day 4 game played yesterday, noted that the Senator’s gesture has enhanced unity amongst the youths of Osisioma Ngwa.
“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Senator representing Abia Central in the person of Senator T. A. Orji, ‘The Ochendo 1’, our man, for his kind gesture. Indeed, he has shown us love.
“You know football is one thing that unifies the youths, and aids their development, so, by solely sponsoring this event, he has done well for us.”
Engr. Ajiagba also revealed that Osisioma Ngwa indigenes will reciprocate the kind gesture of the Senator.
“For unifying Osisioma Ngwa youths via football, and his show of love for our community, we will ensure that he is returned as the Senator of Abia Central come 2019.”
On the progress made so far in the football competition, the Deputy Chairman commended the youth president and also highlighted the support of the Local Government Council.
“I thank the Osisioma Ngwa Youth Congress president Elder Emmanuel Nduagu and his committee for organising this event. The organisation is quite commendable.
“On our part, I’m here to make sure that everything is in place: there is security, there is unity, there is love and there is no hitch whatsoever. Ultimately, this football competition has the support of the Local Government Council.”
Engr. Ajiagba also commended the State Governor for his support.
“I equally wish to commend our amiable Governor, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu PhD for his developmental initiatives in Osisioma Ngwa and the entire State.
“A lot of roads are being constructed in Osisioma Ngwa, other developmental projects are ongoing, and he is in support of the Osisioma Ngwa Youth Unity Cup.
“I thank him immensely.
“And come 2019, he will have our support.”
In the only game played yesterday, Ward 2 defeated Ward 8 by a lone goal.
Action continues today at Ngwa High School football pitch as Ward 4 play against Ward 7.
