European football governing body, Uefa, has hit Danish women’s national football team with a four year suspended ban from Uefa competition games for refusng to play a World Cup qualifier against Sweden.

The Denmark women embarked on strike over pay and unfavourable conditions which resulted in the 20th October match against Sweden to be cancelled.

Sweden were awarded the match with a 3-0 win, and Uefa also fined Danish Football Association €20,000.
